I like travelling. Most of all I like to travel as a pilgrim. Some weeks ago I visited Padua (Italy). I'd like to share some of my impressions.
The Basilica of Saint Anthony, which the people of Padua call The Saint, is the most important monument in the city, as well as being one of the world's most important art treasures and one of the Christianity's most popular shrines.

The Basilica was begun in 1232 and completed towards the end of that century. It was dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua , who was born around 1195 in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Padua on June 13,1231.
What was the Saint like?
With the permission of Pope John Paul II, a canonical recognition of the body of Saint Anthony was conducted in 1981.The Saint's body was found to be in an excellent state of preservation. To the surprise of the experts , Saint Anthony's vocal apparatus was found to be intact.Today, the vocal apparatus, the Saint's habit, the two coffins and the precious cloths which covered these are kept in the Chapel of the Relics, also known as a Treasury Chapel.

  1. Thank you for an interesting post. There are a lot of things which can't be explained by people, regardless of all the modern technologies.
